Pack Rat Villain 1!!

February 28, 2008 at 2:23 pm (Talk, talk, talk!!!)

So, I have a story to tell.  Let’s just say that i’m not too happy right now.

I got a call from my mom a couple weeks ago asking me if I would like to go to Oregon with her.  Of course I said yes, and I headed for her house on the 20th.  We stayed in Oregon for 5 nights, and it was fun.  We went to the beach.  I got a lot of great pictures.  We headed home on the 25th, but I live about 3 hours away from her so I didn’t make it home until the 26th.  I was sure happy to be home, but as I pulled into the drive way I realized that my husbands truck was there but my rig wasn’t.  I figured he just drove it to work so that he could do an oil change or something.  When I got inside and spoke with his dad I was told that wasn’t the case.  My husband had took my truck to his work the day before to replace my shocks which were going bad, in the process he realized that one of my fuel lines was begining to crack so he decided to replace that as well.  Now don’t worry, nothing bad happened at that point.  He was able to replace the fuel line, but when he was driving home that night my rig just wasn’t running right.  That’s why he decided to take it back to work the next day.  After I got home I decided to run into town and run some errands.  I stopped at his work and left his truck for him to drive, and took mine.  I went to my lawyers office, but when I came back out my rig wouldn’t start.  I was a little nervous,  my rig has never not started for me.  As a matter of fact I have never had any problems with it.  So I called my husband to come look at it.  When he showed up he said that he had changed the spark plugs in it earlier and he thought that maybe it had something to do with that.  So just to be safe we went back to the parts store and got all new spark plugs for it.  After returning to my lawyers office and changing the spark plugs we quickly realized that the spark plugs wasn’t the problem, my rig still wouldn’t start.  So we decided at that point that we should just call a tow truck and have it towed to my husbands shop, so I gave them a call.  Wouldn’t you know it but as soon as the tow truck headed our way, my rig started.  It wasn’t running very good, but it started.  I called the tow company back and cancelled, and I followed my husband down to his shop.  After tinkering with it for a while, my husband decided to take it to a different shop to have them hook it up to the computer and figure out what was wrong.  They had it for a while, then called us to let us know that they found out that the fuel line that my husband had replaced somehow got kinked and it ruined my fuel regulator.  At that point we were a little relieved, it would only cost us $60.00 to replace.  The shop replaced the regulator and guess what, my rig still wasn’t running right.  They said that they would keep it over night and start looking again in the morning.  That all happened yesterday.

Today I get a call from my husband, with some more bad news.  As the shop began to diagnose the problem they ended up finding out that a pack rat had made a nest under my passenger seat while my rig was sitting for that week, and chewed through some of my wires.  They said that they don’t know exactly what to do, we can pay and have the wires replaced that they can see but they don’t know if the rat chewed any wires up under my dash board.  So at this point, we’re not sure what to do.  I think my husband told them to just start replacing wires but i’m not sure.  This could end up costing a lot of money to fix.  I can’t wait until he gets off work so I can talk to him.  I really want an update on my rig.  I really want to know if it can be fixed.  I guess I will let you know what will happen, as soon as I find out.

What would you do??

Flash Drives. Duhh!!

February 20, 2008 at 8:31 pm (Photography Is My Business) ()

So here’s something to make you laugh.  I read another persons blog a while back who made the same mistake that I just did.  Duh!!!  I wrote previously about ordering a new memory card for my computer but get this.  I realized that I still might have a problem that needs fixing!!

I realized that a memory card doesn’t protect me against a virus.  I need something that will allow me to save my files easily, and it has to be an outside source (something that wont be effected by a virus).  So I decided to order a USB flash drive from memorysuppliers.com.  I already ordered my memory card through them.  I am, however, a little nervous.  I just hope that it’s easy to use.  I’ve never owned one, and to tell you the truth I have not the slightest idea how to use it.  I am excited though.

Computer Memory Cards Anyone??

February 19, 2008 at 3:33 pm (Photography Is My Business) (, )

The funny thing about business expenses, is that they never seem to end.  Here’s another one for you!!

I’m the type of person that would rather do all the necessary research, and order things off the internet.  There’s a good reason for that too.  I live about 30 miles or so away from town, and it’s not even a big town.  It’s small.  So finding really good prices on things is kind of hard in the first place, and to tell you the truth it’s just inconvenient to drive that far everytime I need something.  So as long as I don’t need it right this second then I just order it.  Is that crazy??  I don’t think so!!

I realized quite a while ago that I was going to have to upgrade the memory in my computer before I start my photography business, so that I would have enough memory to store everything that I will need to.  So I order a new 2GB memory card from memorysuppliers.com.  I did my research and found the right card for me, at a price that I agree with.  So, who can beat that?

It just goes to show, that business expenses never stop.  Don’t get me wrong, I am enjoying myself.  And I can’t wait until I have everything to make my business become a reality.  I’m excited..

Talk about a view

February 15, 2008 at 8:27 pm (Talk, talk, talk!!!)

At this point in my life I have decided to work on becoming a photographer.  I took some online courses, and spent a lot of time looking through the lens of my camera.  I was recently notified that I’m getting a couple of my pics published in books, and my instructors for my online courses tell me that I have a lot of talent.  At this point I guess I would call myself an armature photographer.  As such, I pride myself on finding spectacular views to capture.  My sister in law has one such view, right from her front porch.  Her house sits up on a hillside that over looks a valley near Twin Bridges Montana .  We visited her, and her family, this last summer and had a wonderful time.  The fishing in the surrounding rivers and creeks was amazing.  That was the first time I had the opportunity to catch Brown Trout.  It doesn’t matter if you enjoy fly fishing or spinner fishing, trust me they’ll bite.  The house it self is absolutely beautiful. If you are in the market for your own Montana Dream home this could me the one!  Just click on this link and you’ll see what I mean! http://www.forsalebyowner.com/listing/7BF71In the future sometime I’m sure my husband and I will end up selling the house we currently live in and buying a new one.  And now that I know of the possibility of selling it my self we might very well take advantage of the opportunity, with both selling and buying through For Sale By Owner. It’s a win, win situation for all when you can save money!

You know what’s funny I wrote this on Feb. 13th and forgot to post it until now.  I hit save instead of published.  DUH!!!!

Photography Equipment

February 12, 2008 at 7:13 pm (Photography Is My Business) (, )

I still haven’t recieved any opinions about my logo so I decided to talk about another problem I’ve been having with equipment I have a good digital camera that I can use for now, and even though I’m still in the planning stages of my business I’ve already discovered that there is alot of different types of equipment out there to choose from.  I need lights, backgrounds, and countless other accessories.  Does anyone out there have any suggestions on what company to go through for this stuff??  I’m the type of person who likes to hear personal experiences about a company before I choose to go through them to order anything.  Advise would be helpful!!
