I have some news but first I must say that i’m rather disappointed.  I logged on today with the full intent to upload a few more of the wonderful humming bird pictures that I have taken and for some reason they wont upload onto WordPress.  Weird huh??  So I supose I will just go on and give my good news.  My Papa (grandpa) is getting married.  Yes you heard me correctly.  My GRANDPA is getting MARRIED.  My grandma died about 5 years back and it has been really hard on him, so i’m glad that he found someone who will help him finally be happy.  He deserves it.  The best part is that I get to do the photos at the wedding.  This will be great.  I’m excited but also a little nervous.  I have to get nothing but great photos at papa’s wedding.  It add a little bit of extra pressure when i’m doing something like this for family!!

Humming Bird Pictures

May 23, 2008 at 8:06 pm (Photography Is My Business)

O.K. so I decided to try something that I had never tried before, so hang with me.  I love Humming Birds.  I hang up a feeder every year for them.  I decided to try something new this year even though I knew it was going to be a challenge.  I decided to try and snap a few photos.  If you’ve ever taken pictures of Humming Birds before then you know that it isn’t easy.  They move around so much and so quickly that photographing them isn’t easy.  But to my delight, I was able to do it.  Not only is this my first time taking pictures of Humming Birds but this is also my first time trying to post a photo.  I hope this works, here goes!!

Not bad huh??  I know that it could be better but this was my very first attempt.  However, it’s getting late so I better go.  I have more photos that i’ve taken, and now that I know how i’ll come back and post a few more later!!

A Time To Relax

May 20, 2008 at 3:43 pm (Gotta Love Family!!, Photography Is My Business)

As the title of this post suggests, this weekend was a time for my husband and I to relax a bit.  We have been so busy the last few weeks that we haven’t had much time to just breathe!!  With the climbing gas prices, and needing to replace a bit of equipment, we have been having a bit of financial stress.  Everything will be o.k. I’m sure, it always is.  Once the equipment is paid for I hopefully won’t have to worry about any big business expenses for a while.  My husband had the idea of driving up to the lake to take some pictures and just relax, so that’s what we did.  Surprisingly enough, we didn’t even take our fishing gear.  We just snapped a few pictures, then sat back and looked at the scenery for a while.  It was really relaxing and I couldn’t be more relaxed even if it is only Tuesday.  To me it already seems like the week is over.  But with the way things have been going I’m sure this is just the calm before the storm.  The calm before a storm is always the most peaceful!!

Business Travel

May 8, 2008 at 9:53 am (Photography Is My Business)

Can you believe the price of gas now??  Any business owner who has traveling expenses is going to feel the squeeze.  I have a friend who lives about 132 miles away from here and she wants me to come down and take some family portraits.  I would love to, except the price of gas.  I’m going to do it I know that much, I mean what are friends for.  The worst part is I feel terrible adding money onto the price of the portraits to help cover the price of gas, so I wont do it.  Not to friends at least.  If this was someone that I didn’t know, I may speak with them about the additional price of me having to drive that far.  Not only the price of gas, but it takes a whole day to drive down there, take the pictures, then drive home.  But, for my friend, i’m glad to do it.  I’m actually a little flatter that she asked me to do it instead of just taking her family down to the nearst studio.  But as I said before, what are friends for??

What To Do??

May 1, 2008 at 11:48 am (Gotta Love Family!!) (, )

There is one reason why I hate telling family members who don’t live here that we’re going to be going on vacation soon, and do you know what that reason is??  Stick around and i’ll explain.

I called my mom who lives about 100 miles from here and I told her that we are planning a quick trip, just to get out of the house for a couple days.  I bet you can guess what she said “oh, honey.  You have to come down and see me.  I miss you!”  I explained to her that we haven’t decided where to go yet, but that I would run the idea past my husband.  I told her I would call her when we make up our minds.

Later that day my sister called; she lives down in Nevada.  I told her that we were planning on a quick trip and I’m sure you can guess what she said “oh, you guys have to come see us.  The kids miss you!”  I told her the same thing that I told mom, that we hadn’t decided where to go yet and I would let her know when we did.  I told her I would tell my husband that she wanted to see us too..

At that point I decided not to tell any other out of town family members of our plans.  About an hour later my mother-in-law calls and says she heard that we were planning a vacation and I know at this point that you can guess what she said “oh hon, you guys need to come down and see my new place!”

So now we’re stuck.  That is the reason that I hate having to tell out of town, or out of state family members that we won’t be here for a few days.  Everyone wants us to come and see them.  I’m being pulled in 3 directions at once.  I do want to see my mom and dad of course, but I also really miss my 2 nephews and my niece.  On the other hand, we haven’t seen his mom in almost a year and we miss her.  So, I don’t know what to do.  We don’t plan on going anywhere for about 2 weeks or so.  I guess we’ll have to make a decision before then!!  I’m not looking forward to explaining things to the people we don’t go see.  That won’t go over well.  Oh sis, we can’t come see you because we’re going to see mom!!!  Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suppose we could just plan on going to whatever place is more photogenic!!  I love taking pictures…
